6. QUALITY - J2ME Mobile Entertainment Client Testing (Virtual Overseas Development Center Based)

Customer
The customer provides a portal platform for mobile devices which delivers features on one mobile entertainment platform. The products are currently widely used in mobile phones.

Challenge
The customer's mobile client was in need of completed testing results in various mobile devices. Different devices are supported by different J2ME standards Testing was required in Functional, User interface, Performance and Compatibility areas. Each official released edition needed to be tested thoroughly on multiple devices with different Service Providers Networks before making the new features available to mobile end users.

Service Delivered
ArcherMind assembled a team of four dedicated QA engineers.

They built a complete test suite for the J2ME mobile client and tested it on a large range of devices from different manufactures (e.g. Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Nokia). A test bed was established to conduct the testing.

The first round of real device testing, our engineers tested the client on 20 real JVM enabled phones. In the second round, we tested the client on 30 phones. After that, the entire testing suite came more mature and all critical issues were submitted to the customer.

One month later, new functional requirements and upgrades were presented to the QA team. ArcherMind quickly assessed the situation and added two more QA engineers to the initial team and assigned four dedicated QA engineers to the customer company to do new function testing and help developers fix bugs. QA engineers have been communicating with developers directly, which works very well. The customer's mobile entertainment platform is now stable for JVM enabled phones. The customer can now focus on new feature requirements of the end users.
