Customer
Our customer is Canada's most-listened to broadcasting company offering Digital Media Radio Broadcasting. Every single day, millions of people across the country tune in to our customer's radio stations. Here you can listen to some of Canada's best sounding tunes from Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Ontario.
Challenge
With the development of Internet and digital media, our customer needed a system to collect network digital media and to support programming. The system would be used to connect with online radio media, then to flow content onto the internet, to intelligently maintain the radio flow, and finally to determine what content needed to be distribute to traditional radio broadcasting systems. This is all about enabling Canadian audience to get wonderful programs without logging onto the internet, especially the programs that XM Satellite Radio produces. XM Satellite Radio has only opened programs to satellite receiver end users, internet users, and 3G mobile phone users. Plus, people need to subscribe to the program service. IPRADIAO system extends XM Satellite Radio users and audience. Traditional broadcasting company may subscribe and order XM Satellite Radio programs together to offer a wider range of information and entertainment to listeners.

IPRadio is a complete embedded ultra media system that, when used together with the internet and on demanded audio streams, provides 10 channels of internet radio audio output to common speakers or broadcasting systems. IPRadio is based on a bare-bones version of BSD, along with a web server (httpd), PHP and a few other utilities. The entire system configuration is stored in one single XML text file to keep things transparent.
